Description Heirloom. The Hearts of Gold variety of cantaloupe vines produce medium-sized melons with tan flesh. They average about 4 pounds. They have a sweet and tender taste. These vigorous and blight resistant vines produce melons that reach maturity in eighty to ninety days. These cantaloupe seeds do best when their soil is rich and sandy, and when they are planted in an area with full sun, in zones three to nine. In the 1930’s, Hearts of Gold was without a doubt the most widely grown cantaloupe variety in the U.S.! Originally, this melon was developed by Roland Morrill of Benton Harbor, MI and trademarked in 1914. So Sweet!80-90 days.
