Echoes of Tea – Jianshui Teapot | Rust-colored, Matte, Natural Clay with Traditional Inlay 150 ml
$ 92.94
Description STYLE Shi Piao is an old shape formed by Chen Mansheng in the Qing Dynasty. The wide base, narrow top and the short straight spout makes it stable and fast. On one side there are nice inlay motives with shoushan stone, lily and a teapot. Chinese decorative art often brings together visual motifs that collectively express a good wish, creating a composition with layered and nuanced meaning. On the other side the calligraphy refers the calm mood and wisdom that we can reach over a cup of tea. Many tea lover prefers the modern style matt finish and the large strainer which are unique feature of this artwork. Jianshui is one of the four famous ceramic cities in China, mainly due to the artistic processing of coloured clays from local clay mines and the related ceramic crafts, as well as Yixing. The township is in Yunnan, not far from Kunming. Jianshui pots, which are more robust than the Yixing pots, are thrown on a potter’s wheel. The unglazed pots, which shine brightly on the outside, are ‘breathing’ tea vessels with high heat retention. Their colour is usually eggplant black, rust brown, but they can also be light grey or yellow. These antique style vessels are “hard as iron, shiny as water, silky as jade, tinkling like a stone”.
