Description STYLE Its a round profile, small , traditional Xishi shape Mengchen Style pot, with a large handle and strainer. The delicate handwork, a precise lid, clean transitions and joints, and the natural feeling in the hand makes this teapot a functional beauty. Easy to use, well controllable item for oolong lovers. The Chaozhou Hongni teapot represents the small, refined, and highly functional vessel of gongfu tea brewing. Less sculptural than Yixing teapots, these pots were created primarily for the perfect preparation of strip-style oolong teas from Guangdong and Fujian. Their earliest known master was Hui Mengchen (1560–1640), who, during the late Ming dynasty, became famous for crafting exceptionally small red clay teapots specifically for Chaozhou gongfu tea. Chaozhou clay is a fine-grained red clay with high iron content, usually fired harder and denser than many Yixing clays. Its color often ranges from slightly orange-red to deep cinnamon tones, and high-quality clay produces a clear, metallic resonance when tapped. The surface is typically smooth and polished, with a dense and compact texture. The walls are thin, allowing the pot to avoid overcooking the tea while preserving aromatic clarity. These teapots are usually very small (around 60–120 ml) because traditional Chaozhou tea preparation aims for a strong, concentrated infusion with a long-lasting aftertaste. The small size allows: precise control, intense aroma, and many short, hot infusions. The form of the teapot is simple, taut, functional, yet light and elegant at the same time. These small, cleanly proportioned, naturally balanced, fast-pouring teapots are often referred to as Mengchen pots. Often used traditional shapes:  Shui Ping, Xishi, pear or pomelo shapes,, and low, stable bodies. Quality is not measured primarily by decoration, but rather by: proportion, natural balance, lightness, structural tension, ergonomics, stability, fast and precise pouring, and refined craftsmanship. Other signs of quality include: delicate handwork, a precise lid fit, clean transitions and joints, a natural feeling in the hand, and a clear metallic sound. The purpose of a Chaozhou teapot is to maximize aroma and transmit the energy of the tea. Unlike more porous Yixing teapots, it does not soften or round the liquor as much. Instead, it emphasizes higher notes and focuses the aromatics. MATERIAL Chaozhou Hongni DIMENSIONS Capacity: 50-60 ml.
